Biography
So many people and things influenced me to become a physician.
I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH where hospitals and healthcare were influential entities in part due to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and my alma mater, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. My mother gets the credit for my choosing obstetrics and gynecology. Prior to her immigration to the U.S., my mother was a midwife attending deliveries in various districts of central England. Her stories about the deliveries she attended, and the joy shared with families she delivered, biased me towards obstetrics. My eldest sister was often hospitalized due to sickle cell anemia. I watched and often followed the physicians who cared for her as they worked to find the “trigger” for her crises. I was impressed by their compassion, intelligence and great skill as they treated my sister and always returned her home safe and “healed”. Becoming a mother at the age of 17 helped me clarify my career aspirations, accept delayed gratification, and stay motivated when rough times challenged my resolve. I enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering with my sorority, and traveling.Education
